Extended Event Analysis

FindFace Multi 2.3.1 introduces the functionality of the extended event analysis, which allows identifying a person either as a “local” or as a “stranger”. The classification is based on the frequency of a person’s appearance on the same camera within a certain period of time.

To start using this functionality, activate it in your license. Once the extended event analysis is enabled in your license, you will see that fields, related to the functionality, appear in General and Camera groups settings. For the events with faces, the Is Local filter will appear in Events and Search. This filter can also be applied when configuring a webhook or defining an alert rule.

Important

The extended event analysis configuration is only available to the Administrator. Only Administrators will see the UI controls, related to the functionality.

In this section:

Extended Event Analysis Settings

You can configure the extended event analysis settings directly from the web interface.

Extended Event Analysis in General Settings

In General, locate the Local/Stranger settings. There are two parameters available for configuration:

  • Local/Stranger lookup depth: set the number of days to view events to find “locals” or “strangers”. The default is set to 7, the minimum value is 5, the maximum value is 10.

  • Local if seen at least for: set the minimum number of days a person should appear in front of the camera to be considered “local”. The default is set to 3, the minimum value is 1, the maximum possible value is equal to the Local/Stranger lookup depth value.

Extended Event Analysis in Camera Groups Settings

In Camera groups, locate the Extended event analysis settings. The following parameters are available for configuration:

  • Enable extended event analysis: disabled by default. Toggle on to enable this functionality and unfold the configurable extended event analysis parameters.

  • Recognize Local/Stranger: disabled by default. Toggle on to enable “local or stranger” recognition on this camera group.

  • Register first appearance of the day: disabled by default. Toggle on to start registering a person’s first appearance of the day on this camera group.

  • Extra Settings: disabled by default. Toggle on to see extra settings for the extended event analysis.

It’s recommended to configure the following parameters only if you are sure of what you are doing:

  • Extended analysis quality threshold: set a face quality threshold sufficient to participate in the extended analysis.

  • Extended analysis comparison threshold: the default is set to the generic confidence threshold, configure it if needed.
